You ever had one of those days where you're fishing your tail off and not catchin' much but you can see bass pounding schools of minnows right in front of you????? Well finally you can have a rig to challenge mother nature itself. This rig allows you to mimic a school of minnows swimming in unison and when it hits the water let me tell ya 'Class is in Session'. If you can imagine sitting down to a snack and having 1 solo potato chip handed to you... that's not enough, give me the bag. Well, fish are no different they don't just want 1 minnow, they want to bust into schools of minnows and see nothing but scales floating around when they're done. This is why bass school up? They like to hunt in packs because it's easier to attack a bunch of minnows from all angles and they also appreciate the wounded ones their buddy missed. For this reason, this rig makes catching doubles a common occurance.
I recently (February 9th-middle of winter) returned home from my field test trip to 'Table Rock Lake' and 'Bull Shoals Lake' in Missouri. Let me tell ya, words cannot describe the success we had! With air temps in the 30's and 40's, and water temps in the mid 40's, one would think fishing would be slow at best. We not only caught fish, we caught 3 doubles in one day...unbelievable!! And this was using only 3 hooks on our rig. I can't wait to try them here in Michigan when the ice clears. You guys have got to get these and start learning them today! There are hundreds of different ways to rig'em. I chose Missouri as my test grounds because it's one of the '3 hook rule' States. This particular problem is easy to get around with willow leaf blades and hook-less dummies. Just run your jig heads on bottom 2 arms and the middle arm, or pinch on some split shot lead sinkers to the middle arm and/or the bottom arms. I could go on and on about these rigs. I strongly suggest #65 Braided line, and actually light gauge hooks/jig heads if your fishing places like 'Table Rock'. Basically, you want to be able to bend out a hook or swivel so you don't loose your whole rig in a tree! (keep in mind you can make these weedless)
The 'DIXIE RIG' is made with an aluminum head, .041" stainless 'SPRING' steel wire, and size #7 barrel swivels (#45 test) w/interlock snaps (These swivels are subject to change since it is becoming almost impossible to get any due to the high demand of Alabama rigs). It measures approximately 7 1/2 inches in total length with 4 arms being approx. 5 1/2inches and the middle arm being approx. 7 inches. The 'DIXIE RIG' weighs approximately 3/8oz total by itself. We found that weight forward designs' tend to "helicopter" and/or "tumble" when casted; the big problem when that happens is that your line gets wrapped around the arms. Also having a lighter design gives you more options when deciding how and what to rig it with. If you start with a lot of weight before adding your baits, you're in for a surprise when you try to cast it. This design gives YOU the control, and freedom to rig it how you need it. I can make them with different swivels on special order only. I made them to have a point of give under extreme pressure, so you would be able to retrieve the rig and your swimbaits. You're welcome. If you do not fish where the cover is wood and rock, maybe you would like heavier duty swivels, I still don't see why, these ones are very strong. The 'DIXIE RIG' does NOT come with jig heads or swimbaits. Colors available: White, Yellow Chartreuse, Silver, Green Pumpkin, Black. Eye Colors Available: Regular and Red
I strongly recommend White, Yellow Chartreuse, and Silver; these 3 should be the primary basics. My friend and guide on Table Rock was real hip on having some dark ones, so if you're like him you may also want Green Pumpkin or Black. We tested White / Yellow Chartreuse and Silver. It was too cold to try much more as our hands were numb the entire trip. Once again, the 'Dixie Rig' has been tested and proven and it will take a tremendous amount of abuse. So have fun and for Heavens sake HANG ON!!! We ship all orders within 3 business days usually sooner as long as we have the color(s) and quantity you order in-stock. If you have any questions send me a message I will try to respond quickly!!
